Okay... So, In a town like Portland, where food carts are seemingly ubiquitous, this does not appear too far-fetched.
It's not uncommon to see many Portlander's lining up for the next mobile food delicatessen versus fast food chains, but according to the latest article in Eater, more and more Americans are choosing food carts instead of quick service restaurants (QSR) i.e fast food. The NPD recently conducted a survey, which asked many food cart goers where they would have obtained a meal if not from a cart. Interestingly enough, about 50% mentioned QSR and roughly 20% said they wouldn't have got anything... Mind blowing, I know! But it does speak volumes on a national level where fast food establishments, like Burger King were once... KINGS.
Nice work food cart community... Keep it interesting and unique and we'll keep coming back for more!
