When the Portland Development Commission announced its plans to organize a contest that would attract startup businesses with promises of working capital, free rent and business/professional services, they had no idea that they would be picking from a pool of 240 applicants. Portland has seen a recent spike in entrepreneurs/startups, which made it a perfect platform to introduce the competition. After months of analyzing and reviewing potential candidates, PDC has announced its six winners! This "first-ever" class consists of ActivEd, Alum.ni, ClutchPlay Games, CoPatient, OnTheGo Platforms and Safi Water Technology, all of which will be sharing office space in the Central Eastside District AKA "Produce Row." PDC plans to formally launch the 2014 challenge before the end of the year. Read more about it here.
